Concussion in the NFL
How to appropriately assess concussion, how to determine amount of time out of play, how to determine expected recovery times, etc. are all questions that are continually being studied by neuropsychologists and medical doctors to determine the best practice methods for athletes.
In the August 2013 edition of ESPN magazine, an article was published highlighting some of the concerns with the NFL's concussion committee, in particular the Jets' physician, who has since left his position on this committee.
Neuropsychologists have a very important role to play in this hot topic issue. See the article and video here.
